إذا عـزمت على الصحبة, فاختر لها أهلها

إذا عزمتَ على الصُّحبة، فاختر لها أهلها؛
فإن الصالحين رفقةٌ تُطمئن القلب، وتُهذِّب الروح، وتُقوِّم المسير.

إن غِبتَ عنهم افتقدوك لا عادةً بل محبة،
وإن غفلتَ نبَّهُوك لا تعنيفاً بل نصحاً ،
وإن رفعوا أكفّهم بالدعاء، جعلوا لك نصيباً منه قبل أنفسهم أو معها، لا يغفلونك ولا يُقصِّرون.

تلك صُحبةٌ لا تُثقِل كاهلَك، بل تُخفِّف عنك،
ولا تُبعِدك عن الخير، بل تقودك إليه برفق؛
فمن ظفر بها، فقد ظفر بزادٍ للطريق، وأنيسٍ لا يخون.

If you choose companionship, choose it wisely;
for the righteous are a company that brings peace to the heart, refines the soul, and straightens one’s path.

If you are absent, they miss you—not out of habit, but out of genuine affection.
If you falter, they remind you—not with harshness, but with sincere counsel.
And when they raise their hands in prayer, they remember you within it—before themselves or alongside them—never forgetting you nor falling short toward you.

Such companionship does not weigh you down, but lightens your burden;
it does not lead you away from goodness, but gently guides you toward it.
Whoever attains it has gained provision for the journey, and a companion who never betrays.
