The human journey, from cradle to grave, is the reduction of an illusory world whose details are woven onto fragile sheets of paper, tossed about by the changing seasons and passing years.
The Philosophy of Paper: Your life begins with a piece of paper, your achievements are documented on paper, and your possessions and affairs are managed on paper. Papers over which we rejoice when they arrive, and grieve when they depart—until the days fold away and the years unravel, closing the curtain with a single document: the "Death Certificate." It is the only paper written in your name that your own eyes will never behold. Work, then, for the day your scroll is closed, for that alone is the true, imperishable value.
Lessons of Time and the Reality of Things:
- The Transient Stages of Life: Youth and physical strength are passing shadows, whereas noble character and magnanimity leave an enduring legacy. Humility and serving others bring honor and steadfastness, while charity and maintaining family ties serve as a fortress against adversity.
- The Paradoxes of Time: Life traps us in a threefold cycle: in youth, we have time and energy but no wealth; in old age, wealth and time but no energy; and in adulthood, wealth and energy but no time. Such is the wisdom of divine distribution—you gain nothing without relinquishing something else, and nothing heals this fragmentation like the pillar of contentment: "Satisfaction."
- The Essence of Happiness: Humanity chases the mirage of happiness, willing to buy it at any price were it sold for money, all while forgetting that it lies in a humble prostration before the Creator. If you wish to know your status with Almighty Allah, look at Almighty Allah's status in your heart.
- Substance Over Appearances: True measure lies not in appearances or formalities. The shroud is white yet terrifying, while the Kaaba is draped in majestic black yet inspiring. Wisdom dictates that manhood is not measured by loud voices, nor womanhood by vulgarity; a person is defined by their morals, not their outward show.
The Wonder of the Human Condition Between Beginning and End: Beginnings and endings mirror each other in a scene that invites deep reflection:
- You are brought into this world unaware of who brought you, and carried to your grave unaware of who laid you to rest.
- You are washed and cleansed on the day of your birth, and washed and cleansed on the day of your departure.
- People rejoice and celebrate your arrival without your knowledge, and weep in sorrow over your loss without your awareness.
- You are wrapped in cloth to cover you at the beginning, and shrouded in cloth to cover you at the end.
- You inhabit a narrow, dark womb at your start, and settle into a narrow, dark grave at your end.
Such is this worldly abode: its people demand your certificates and titles, while the angels of heaven ask of your righteous deeds. Furnish your Hereafter with prayer, charity, and the Quran; initiate good before you depart, and seal your final breaths with a heart declaring: "I bear witness that there is no god but Almighty Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Almighty Allah."
