This Faith — A Brilliant Wonder to the Intellect…
Indeed, this faith is a wonder beyond wonder, and a dazzling marvel to the discerning mind. How could it be otherwise, when it is the way of life chosen by Allah for His servants, the path He has ordained for them, and the divine law He has laid down for the flourishing and ordering of His creation?
The Everlasting Revelation:
There is nothing strange in being struck with awe, or in finding your attention seized by the ever-new manifestations of its miraculous nature. For the Noble Qur’an is a treasure without end, an ocean whose shores cannot be reached. As it has been said, “It does not grow old through repeated recitation, nor do its wonders ever come to an end.” Each time you recite it, it reveals something fresh; each time you contemplate it more deeply, it gives more of itself. Across the ages, it renews itself before the heart and mind, as though the angels had brought it down only this very moment.
The Preservation of the Prophetic Sunnah:
And if the Book of Allah has been preserved by His eternal preservation, then the noble Prophetic Sunnah—its companion and its exposition—was likewise entrusted by Allah to a formidable company of critical scholars and exceptional masters of knowledge. They devoted to its preservation the full strength of their resolve and spent their very lifetimes in its service.
Filtering Out What Was Introduced:
These guardians devoted themselves, generation after generation, to scrutinising the chains of transmission. They purged the faith of the embellishments of those who sought to falsify it and exposed the stratagems of those who concealed defects behind the guise of authenticity. They brought down the strongholds of those who attempted to cast the dust of doubt upon its radiant clarity, turning the schemes of vain desire back upon those who harboured them.
