Such is the Nature of This World
A realm that begins with hardship and ends in passing; its lawful gains require accounting, while its forbidden pleasures lead to punishment. Wealth in it brings temptation, and poverty brings sorrow.
This is the reality of the abode we inhabit: a fleeting shadow and a temporary crossing. Nothing in it stays constant, and no condition endures. It brings joy to no one except to soon bring them pain, nor does it gather loved ones except to tear them apart. One strives endlessly within it, exhausting time and breath, yet it is nothing more than provision for what lies beyond.
- Hardship at the Start, Extinction at the End: It receives humanity with toil and tribulation, terminating their journey with the end of their appointed lifespan—moving them from the narrowness of this life to the realm of Barzakh, and ultimately to the Day of Resurrection and Gathering.
- Accountability and Retribution: Its permissible wealth is subject to questioning, and its forbidden sins lead to punishment, where the servant stands before their Lord to face what their hands have sent forth.
- Fluctuation of Circumstances: Wealth here is a trial that seduces hearts, while adversity is an anxiety that grieves souls; yet both are merely transitory possessions.
The wise person is one who turns this life into a harvesting ground for the Hereafter, gathering righteous deeds as provision for the Day of Return. We ask Allah Almighty to shower us all with His forgiveness and pleasure, to make our reckoning easy, and to pardon us through His vast mercy that encompasses all things.
