Finding joy in giving and striving to fulfill the needs of others is a delight known only to those with pure hearts, noble character, and souls deeply attached to what is with Allah.
A true believer does not see performing a favor as an obligation imposed on others, but rather as an opportunity for salvation and a gateway to the pleasure of the Most Compassionate. They walk toward helping their brother as though walking toward one of the gates of Paradise, concealing their good deeds as much as possible, for secret charity extinguishes the wrath of the Lord, brings blessings upon life and sustenance, and plants light in the heart.
How beautiful it is for a servant to have a hidden deed between themselves and their Lord—an action witnessed by no one and known to none but Allah. Two units of prayer (*Rak'ahs*) in the depth of the night, a tear shed in solitude, or charity given anonymously… these are the true treasures a believer stores away for a Day when neither wealth nor children will avail.
So let each of us strive to have a share of goodness done in secret, just as we strive in our public deeds, for what is done in secret is more sincere in devotion, greater in impact, and more lasting in reward.
