**Consolations of Abu Ubaidah bin al-Jarrah to Umar bin al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with them both):**
It is attributed to Abu Ubaidah bin al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him), in comforting Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him):
*"Take it easy on yourself; for this is merely the worldly life—days that pass, and whatever weariness they hold passes away with them.*
*Praise be to Allah that it is neither our home nor our permanent abode, and that our final resting place is in the presence of the Lord of the Worlds.*
*Praise be to Allah that it is only a worldly life that shall come to an end, while our ultimate destination is in Paradise. There, we shall find comfort and bring comfort to others, and it shall be said to us: 'At your service, indeed the true life is the life of the Hereafter.' "*
The most beautiful aspect of this text is not merely the renunciation of worldly pleasures, but rather that profound phrase:
*“Praise be to Allah that it is neither our home nor our permanent abode.”*
*O Allah, we ask for Your pleasure and Paradise.*
